CONTINUITY CARE WORKSHOPS

Planning for the Future

Information about our approach to assisting families who have a family member with an intellectual disability in developing a plan for the future. Topics include legal and financial planning tools, developing a support network, and creating a portfolio (life book). This workshop is open to individuals, parents, family members, and others who may be assisting individuals to plan for their future.

An Introduction to Vulnerable Persons Act

Thursday, May 11, 2017 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

Geared to families, this workshop will provide an overview of the following, and include time for Q&A:
• The Vulnerable Persons Act
• The Five Guiding Principles
• Definition of a Vulnerable Person

Administering a Discretionary (Henson) Trust
Monday, May 29, 2017 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

This new workshop is intended for family members who are thinking about or have already created a discretionary (Henson) trust as part of their Will and Estate Plan. It provides valuable information to current and future trustees about their role, duties and responsibilities, rules, regulations, and requirements when it comes to administering this type of trust for a beneficiary with a disability. It will be in Q&A format moderated by Suzanne Swanton with questions prepared in advance, and time for audience questions.

ALL SESSIONS ABOVE WILL BE AVAILABLE VIA TELECONFERENCE FOR OUR MEMBERS WHO ARE NOT ABLE TO ATTEND IN PERSON. PLEASE CONTACT THE OFFICE TO MAKE ARRANGEMENTS.
